September Blog – Honoring and Remembering

We begin the month honoring and recognizing the American labor movement and the contributions of American workers.  Labor Day, September 1st, commemorates the struggles for better working conditions, safety and rights, efforts that continue today.  Unofficially, Labor Day means back-to-school time (although many students returned to classrooms in August) and the end of summer.

We observe 9/11, the terrorist attacks against the United States, and honor the American heroes who lived and died. Their bravery will always be remembered.

On a lighter note, September is a special month for our family as my daughter, Jessica, was born on September 4th!   Happy birthday, my sweet girl!  And had our dad, Frank Overton, still lived, he would have been 98 years old on September 1st!

Now, the mornings are cooler, the days a little shorter and the foliage is beginning to turn from green to golden yellow, bright orange and crimson red.  Fall is in the air and soon it will be time to pull out the wool sweaters and fleece pants and cozy up by a crackling fire with a good book, The Fire She Set, which is available to read in print or on Kindle or listen to on Audible.
