Meet My Sister Liz!

MEET MY SISTER, LIZ!

LIZ’S BLOG

Although August isn’t my favorite month…it does signal the beginning of one of my favorite things:  NFL Football!!!  I am and will always be a NY Giants fan!  Football always brings back fond memories of Aunt Jill and Uncle Doug’s – chilly Sunday afternoons, a blazing fire in the fireplace, and Aunt Jill keeping scores for the office pool.  I was born in the fall and this November I will turn 60!  I love the fall…Lisa wrote a poem:

In the fall as I recall, the leaves come tumbling down

In the fall as I recall, the leaves turn yellow and brown

Lisa can tell you the rest – she wrote that poem when she was 8 years old and it was even published in the local Brigantine rag.

I love the fall colors, the cooler temperatures, and of course, the birthday presents!!  Autumn takes a little longer to get here in California, but eventually it shows up.  Some years it even rains!

These days, I am a Notary Public and spend my time doing mobile loan signings, reading romance novels and watering the few plants I have.  I do not have the green thumb my sisters have…but unlike my nieces, I do manage to keep them alive.  There are several hummingbirds who come to feed regularly and there are always a few sparrows and pigeons who stop by.  This past year has been spent trying to keep a very persistent and extremely annoying squirrel from eating all my bird seed!  No matter what I try – greasing the bird feeder pole or moving the bird feeder to an area he can’t possibly access – the squirrel always seems to get into the bird seed  After extensive research, I found out that apparently birds have no issues with capsaicin but squirrels most assuredly do.  So I’ve been adding red pepper flakes to my bird seed, and good bye squirrel!

And food for thought (or thought for food)…my fortune cookie coughed up this gem:  Simplicity of character is the natural result of profound thought.  I think that means, keep it simple, stupid.
