May Blog – A Special Month

Welcome, May! May is a special month–the peak of spring filled with warmth and flowers coming into full bloom.  The 152nd Kentucky Derby event was attended by more than 150,000 spectators with men wearing dapper suits and fancy hats, and Hollywood-styled dresses with dazzling hats for women.  This year, the three-year-old colt Golden Tempo won in an historic victory!  Trained by the first woman to train a derby winner, coming from behind at 23-1 odds, this horse won the race!

May is a busy time for weddings and graduations; Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10th (think pink and remember Mom); and Memorial Day observed on Monday, May 25th, creating for many a three-day weekend to kick off the summer season.  As a testament to how quickly time passes, we remember my son, Drew, who passed on May 29th, 2000, from the devastating and debilitating Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy disease.  He is greatly missed and always in our hearts.

So no matter what you celebrate this month whether it be with family and/or friends, don’t forget to take some time for yourself and enjoy a good book, like The Fire She Set, which is available for purchase on Amazon or your favorite bookstore, to read on Kindle or listen to on Audible.
