February Blog – Special Days

January has quietly shifted to February after a long month of very non-winter-like weather in southeastern Idaho.  Much to the delight of snow-weary commuters and less than enthusiastic snow-shovelers trying to avoid a slip and fall, there were warmer temps and bright sunshine days—so unlike the typical January we normally experience in Idaho.  Is it global warming?  I don’t know, but it sure was a welcome change!

Following in January’s footsteps, February arrives and the weather is brighter, sunnier, with warmer days.  Now that January is over and resolutions are in the rear view mirror, we can celebrate the month of love.  Along with much better weather, this month celebrates Valentine’s Day and President’ Day.  We can love ourselves more and focus on our partners, family and friends.  And since February is the shortest month of the year, we need to get started right away!

As we enjoy the sweetness of Valentine’s Day, there is also World Cancer Day on February 4th, Abraham Lincoln’s birthday on the 12th, and my beautiful son Drew’s birthday  on February 15th.  Drew would be 37 years old this year, had he not died at such a young age from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Lisa also celebrates 21 years of continuous sobriety on the 16th – keep up the good work!

So, whatever you decide to do this month, do it in style and with good intentions.  And don’t forget to take time for yourself and enjoy a good book, like The Fire She Set, which is available to read in print,  on Kindle or listen to on Audible.
