Leigh Overton Boyd is the oldest of four sisters who survived a house fire outside of Atlantic City in June 1974 that killed her parents. In the years following the fire Leigh earned a degree in criminal justice, studied the law and became Miss Atlantic City. The mother of two children, she lost her son, Drew, to muscular dystrophy in 2000. She has her own real estate consulting company working with Fortune 500 companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is her first book.
Leigh spent almost eight years researching the book and working with local law enforcement, spending time with fire forensic expert John DeHaan who has written the modern day textbook on fire investigation. She reached out to the Innocence Project for a better understanding of the impacts of wrongful accusations. A long time runner, she recently completed her 5th Half Marathon in Ashton, Idaho, placing second in her age group while battling breast cancer. She is a survivor! Leigh enjoys many outdoor activities including cross country skiing, running in the Tetons, and fishing on the Snake River in Swan Valley, Idaho, where she lives with her soul mate, two dogs – a Yellow Lab hunting dog and a Golden Retriever therapy dog, and two beautiful Balinese cats.
